Buy ferrite magnets when the carrying capacity is not as important as the size. Even though 8 lbs sounds like a lot (and it is - especially with 2 magnets facing each other giving double the effect), you have to remember that it is quite a heavy magnet. It weighs approximately 88 grams, and this must also be taken into account if the magnet is not to be embedded in a construction but also has to carry its own weight.

This size is often used as a magnetic closure for an oven or a sauna with high temperature. And they are also very good for outdoor use because they do not rust.

Ferrite magnets cannot be used on glass boards!

Ferrite magnets do not have a protective coating and are therefore slightly fragile. Avoid hard usage and coalition. Also make sure to avoid distance between two ferrite magnets or ferrite vs. metal, as distance is a big weakness for magnets (especially ferrite magnets).
