Hanging pictures with hook magnets

We went to visit CPH Village and here also their cozy cafe, which they have decorated with magnets. They have hung their pictures with hook magnets and the result seems to speak for itself.

Many people want to hang their pictures without having to drill into the walls. There can of course be several reasons for this. It can, for example, is because you are not allowed to drill into the walls or because it is too difficult. CPH Village is the name of the student housing located on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen. Here, all the homes, including their cafe, are made from old shipping containers - and that's why their homes are magnetic. You may not live in a container, but with a simple trick you can also use this solution.

Use sheet metal as a counterpart:

When your wall does not is magnetic, you can use a self-adhesive metal plate on your wall. Feel free to choose a metal plate that has the same diameter as the hook magnet.

How strong hook magnets should I use?

Of course, it depends on how much the image weighs - as the hook magnet is exposed to an indirect pull. You must therefore at least multiply the weight of the picture by 6. The hook magnet with a diameter of 25 mm. has a strength of approx. 16 kg in direct pull, while with an indirect pull it can only handle 2.6 kg. So if your image does not weigh more than 2.5 kg., then you can easily use this hook magnet.

What should I use?

• Pot magnet with hook (min. Ø25 mm.)
• Cord
• Metal plate with self-adhesive

TIP: you can use a leather cord or colored cord depending on the look you want to create

How to do it step by step :

Remove the piece of foil that is on the metal plate. Attach the metal plate to the wall and let the glue harden for approx. 48 hours. ATTENTION! It is important that you place the metal plate on a flat surface, otherwise you cannot use this method. Cut a piece of string and make a fortune. Now tie the string to the back of the picture so that the luck is facing upwards. Now attach the hook magnet to the metal plate and carefully hang your picture.

Now you have finished hanging your picture without making holes in the wall.
