Ferrite magnets

Ferrite magnets are often refered to as hobby magnets or fridge magnets. They are not as strong as power magnets (neodymium), which is also reflected in the prices. Ferrite magnets have no coating, but they are suitable for outdoor use as they are rust proof and able to withstand up to 250°C. So if strength in proportion to the size is not that important, ferrite magnets are a good choice. They are widely used in industry as well as for DIY projects.

Industrial and hobby magnets

Ferrite magnets are used for both industrial and hobby purposes. The main advantage of ferrite magnets is that they do not rust, allowing them to be used outdoors or submerged in water. Additionally, ferrite magnets are very inexpensive. However, they are also much heavier compared to, for example, neodymium super magnets, which are more expensive but can support their own weight many times over. Therefore, when choosing ferrite magnets for your project, one needs to use a proportionally large and heavy magnet.

The magnets are slightly more fragile because they lack a coating, so small flakes can easily come off during transport, storage, and daily use. However, this does not greatly affect the magnetic field or strength. A ferrite magnet is only ‘broken’ if it breaks in half.

Ferrite magnets in all size and shapes

Ferrite magnets were not initially part of the webshop because demand for this type of magnet only picked up in 2018. This is reflected in the availability of ferrite magnets compared to other types. However, we are always attentive to customer needs. If you require a size or shape not currently listed, we can quickly source standard sizes, ensuring prompt delivery.
