Use e.g. this magnetic ruler when you need to measure the extent of damage to the car - it holds very well on most cars (not aluminum parts and plastic) and is flexible, so it is easy to move around. So it's easy to measure car damage with a magnetic ruler. And it sticks really well magnetically despite curves on cars (see photo).

Can also be used on most school blackboards for math class.

Or if you sew and knit: put your recipe sheet on a metal plate with this ruler above - so you can measure and with it and move it around in relation to easier reading of the lines of the recipe.
