Description

Measure the direction of the poles yourself with a small compass. Also called a magnetic compass.

This model has a lanyard and a small handle, so you can take it with you on a trip and use it in nature too.

How to measure magnetic pole:
Hold the compass close to one face of your magnet until the compass needle has set firmly on north or south.

If the needle points south:
A compass needle pointing south indicates a magnetic north pole.

If the needle points north:
A compass needle pointing north indicates a magnetic south pole.

The explanation of , that the compass shows the opposite pole in relation to the magnet, lies in the fact that opposite poles attract, while same poles repel. But it is still quite logical, because when you have your magnet in your hand with, for example, the north pole upwards, and you hold the compass up to the other end of the magnet with the south pole, then the needle on the compass will point towards the pole that the magnet also points towards: namely the north.

When you do not have magnets near the compass, it will show you where north and south are relative to the globe.

The compass itself is a small compass on size of a Danish 2 krone.

Sold individually.
