Securing the curtain cord with a magnet

Roller blinds with a cord pull mounted on the terrace door can be annoying when you have to close the door again, as the cord often gets caught in the door. But fortunately there is a solution for that.

Suggested solution with ball & cone

The curtain cord often has a plastic ball or cone on the end of the cord. Inside the plastic there is space for a magnet.

If there is a ball, it can be opened by turning the two plastic parts apart (the ball is assembled from two often equal parts). Inside the plastic ball, you place a strong power magnet with the same diameter as the ball's interior (or as large as there is now room for). For this case, we have used a Ø6 mm. ball magnet.

If there is a cone, open it same as above and attach a small bar magnet inside the cone. It can either be fixed with a little glue or a dab of sealant.

If there is only one knot at the end of the string, you can open the knot, put a ring magnet on the cord and tie it securely with a new knot.

Voila! Now the string is magnetic and can be attached to a metal edge.

Use magnets to attach the curtain string securely to the metal edge.

Magnets are both handy and smart for many things - especially for securing drawers, cupboards, doors and other things where they e.g. must be inaccessible to children or animals. But also as embedded parts in cords - as in this case with a securing of curtain cord.

If you have something that could be solved with magnets, don't hesitate to contact us, because we would love to test for you so that you find the correct solution. Then we can send you some links and solutions... often in the form of drawings or photos to make sure you've got all the details. Because especially when it comes to children and safety, no important detail must be overlooked. So feel free to take us along for advice. We are ready in customer service every weekday during opening hours and can help you per phone, email or chat. And otherwise we can arrange for you to drop by our showroom in Glostrup (Copenhagen, Denmark), where we can test solutions together.
