Insect net for door with magnets
Spring and summer mean that it gets hot both outside and inside. It is therefore about avoiding various insects, mosquitoes and flies entering. Here we want to tell you a little about Jørgen, who himself has been working on his own fly net project.
Jørgen needed an insect net with magnets for the door of his camper ). Here it should be possible for him to open and close the insect net, so that they could easily go in and out of the door. At night, they will also easily be able to get fresh air in from the sliding door without being eaten by mosquitoes. For Jørgen, it would therefore be a good solution to make a magnetic closure in the middle of the fly net.
We therefore recommended that Jørgen should use our stick magnets in 3x20 mm. These magnets are special, as the magnetism sits axially (on the sides) opposite to all our other stick magnets. Rod magnets of this type will fit this type of insect net, which is open in the middle. The carrying capacity of this magnet is a whopping 1.2 kg, so it will fit a mosquito net which is approx. 1 mm. in thickness.
Do as Jørgen: make your own insect net for the door with magnets
Jørgen had bought a net and cut it to fit with the measurements on the sliding door of their camper. Jørgen made the insect net by using approx. 15 bar magnets on each side, i.e. 30 pieces were used. Total. A wedge was then sewn into the net on a sewing machine. After sewing, he alternately took a magnet and then a wooden barbecue stick. The distance between each individual magnet was approx. 7 cm, with wooden grill sticks placed between them to stiffen the net. Here you can also use something else to stiffen with (it was just what Jørgen himself had on hand).
The finished mosquito net was approximately 105 cm. in width and 135 cm. in length. For your own mosquito net, you can easily adjust the distance between the magnets up or down depending on how big your mosquito net needs to be.
Jørgen chose not to sew or glue the magnets so that one magnet could easily adapt to the magnet on the other hand. The reason why Jørgen's insect net works really well is due to, among other things, that at the bottom there was a magnet on each side, and along the edge of the bottom there was sewn lead tape to stiffen it with (lead tape is also used, among other things, to stiffen shower curtains with). The result was therefore a mosquito net which had a firmer frame, as you know from the nets you can buy in shops.
Jørgen came by with the fly net with magnets, and it was very professionally made. We therefore had to make a small video. Here you will see how easily the magnets attract each other and close the mesh perfectly in the middle.
