DIY magnetic goal board

Make your own flexible and creative overview with magnetic sheets (also called magnetic foil) over e.g. your tasks and objectives in everyday life or at work. You can make it exactly as you want and need.

A magnetic sheet is smart because it is super easy to use. As long as you have a magnetic surface to put it on, you can take it with you anywhere. You can write on it with different types of markers in several different colours, which can be bought individually and in packs of 10. Another option is to glue a paper print onto your magnetic foil - then you have to choose self-adhesive.

If you want to visualize your project even more, you can use our ludo magnets. Then you can easily move the small magnets around, depending on how far you are with the tasks and your goals.

Here we give you some ideas for how you can make your DIY magnetic overview: one where we have drawn myself and one with a paper print. Watch the video and read the sections further down for more inspiration.

Draw on the magnetic sheet

You can write on your magnetic sheet so that it fits exactly your idea and your needs. Choose a without sticker for this solution.

There are two options if you want to write directly on the foil yourself:

  1. Use permanent markers if what you write cannot be erased again. When you use these markers, you also avoid the color disappearing when you e.g. moves around the sheet and the ludo magnets.
  2. You must choose whiteboard markers if you want to be able to erase and redraw again and again. then you can use your magnetic foil for various DIY projects. However, be aware that whiteboard markers can leave a shadow when they are erased.

In the pictures below, we have used permanent markers to get an overview of the number of books you would like read this year. The Ludo magnet is used to show how far you have come.

Use permanent markers and ludo magnets on your magnet sheet to get an overview of, for example, your reading goals

Of course, you can also combine by using both permanent and whiteboard markers.

If writing freehand is not your thing, luckily we have a solution. Here you must choose a magnetic sheet with self-adhesive. It is magnetic on one side and adhesive on the other. Create your design on e.g. the computer, print it out on a piece of paper and attach it to the side of the magnetic sheet that sticks.

It takes a steady hand to put it on straight, but with a little patience it can easily give a nice result. Should air bubbles sneak under the paper when you put it on, you can smooth the paper so they disappear. Remember to do it immediately, then it is easiest to get them away.

In the pictures below, we have structured the household chores. Each person has been given a color and a matching ludo magnet so that you can easily see the distribution of tasks. We have also made two fields that show whether you are missing or have completed a task.

You can put a paper print on your magnetic sheet with self-adhesive and use ludo magnets on it
