Block out the sun with magnets

Do your roller blinds not close completely? Fortunately, there is an option for that - and it's also easy.

Put magnets on the roller blinds

We close the curtains to keep the sun out. But it is not always that the curtain closes completely against the window sill. So we have a solution for you: a combination of a metal disc and a magnet - both parts in the same color as the window frame and the curtain. 

We have used: 

• White metal plate Ø16 mm.< /li>
• White power magnet 6x3 mm.

How to do it:

1. Make the window sill completely clean and grease-free, and let the window sill dry
2. Remove the protective foil from the metal disc and attach it to the window sill at the point where the curtain should close tightly. Do it if necessary. several places if the curtain has to close tightly all the way down. Let the glue work for 24 hours.
3. After 24 hours, you can use the solution by rolling down the curtain and placing a magnet on the front of the curtain so that the magnet hits the metal plate through the curtain. 

NOTE! You can also use other sizes of sheet metal and magnets than we have used in the video. You just need a metal disc that is min. same diameter as the magnet you choose for the project.

Also for general. curtains

This magnetic solution is of course not limited to roller blinds - you can do the same with regular curtains. You just need a flat surface on which the metal disc can be attached. Or you can glue or screw a power magnet onto the window sill and combine with a magnet or a piece of metal in front of the curtain. 

That is why we do not recommend magnetic tape

Magnetic tape is good for many magnetic solutions. But in this case it is not strong enough, as the curtain is thick, and a rather large magnet will therefore have to be used, which makes the project more expensive - and which is not nearly as discreet a solution. If it is a mosquito net that needs to be closed with magnets, you can easily use two pieces of magnetic tape against each other as a magnetic curtain closure. But then you must choose magnetic tape without a colored coating on it. See the options for magnetic tape here.
