CPH Village
We were invited by CPH Village to make magnet solutions for their container homes. Super cool task and really some pleasant hours, where we not only gave tips and tricks for magnet solutions, but we were also inspired for new, fun magnet ideas.
In photo no. 2, Louise has hung some lanterns up with string and Ø25 mm. hook magnets on the underside of the metal stairs outside. It's an easy way to make outdoor areas cozy and inviting when you have guests or you yourself want to sit outside in the dark evening hours. And then it was a nice eye-catcher for the workshop.
What is CPH Village?
If you do not know CPH Village, then it is - in short - a whole container city with container housing for students. A truly brilliant project, as there is a great shortage of student accommodation in Copenhagen. Our first meeting with the people behind it was in 2016, when they were looking for a strong magnetic hook. From there, it has become a longer and rather exciting collaboration, where we create fun solutions for storage in the small container homes.
Beginning with the entrance
For the magnet workshop in July 2018, we were allowed to furnish 2 container homes with magnets. And we started with the hallway, where we hung out, among other things. hung a plant in a metal hider, which is magnetic in itself, so it just required a few rubber magnets size 17x4 mm. on the back - no need for glue or screws, because the magnets just stick by themselves to both the hider and the container wall.
In the hallway, we have thought of smarter solutions to hang up all the same things. Here we have taken a rubber magnets 16x11 in yellow to attach the shoes to the wall. A hook magnet Ø13 mm has been used for the hat, as the hat does not weigh very much. For the two white boxes, we have been in the process of pop riveting 3 pcs. Ø25 recessed pot magnets on the side of each box. They therefore sit very well - and can be filled with everything from hats and umbrellas. In the picture on the right, we have chosen to hang a jacket with a white hook magnet Ø16 mm.
You can buy your own pop rivet pliers and make the project accordingly.
Magnet solutions for kitchen
To create more space in the kitchen, we chose to hang nice light blue buckets from the ceiling. Then there could be more space for cutlery and fresh herbs. It's a brilliant way to get a little extra space in a smaller kitchen. To make these bucket shelves, you need hook magnets Ø32 mm. and of course some strong rope. We have hung 5 pcs. cactus magnets up, which is one of the big trends of the time.
The most popular solution was a shelf in the kitchen, consisting of a shelf where we have drilled 3 holes (2 holes at the front in each corner and 1 hole at the back in the middle of the shelf). A string is put through each hole with a knot at the bottom of the shelf and with a loop tied at the top of each string. We have gone for the "triangular" solution with the holes, so that you get as much space as possible for your things on the shelf, at the same time as the weight is optimally distributed on the magnetic hooks, and a slight difference in weight is tolerated and that you end up pushing the shelf a little. We have used 2 magnetic hooks size Ø40 mm. and 1 magnetic hook size Ø50 mm.
Photo wall without holes
It is really easy to make your own beautiful and personal photo wall with magnetic pockets. Here we have pictures of cute animals that we have put in white magnet pockets in the dimensions 10x15 cm. Magnetic pockets can be used for more than just photos. For example, you can use your important notes or recipes. There are many people who use them directly on their whiteboards.
Clothes rack with magnets in the ceiling
It is always a hit to have your own clothes rack - so your child's clothes can come out and avoid getting wrinkled. For the project we have used 2 x hook magnets Ø25, each of which can carry approx. 18 kg. So there is plenty of opportunity to also hang up a heavy jacket using these hook magnets. We have used a metal rod and some strong rope for the project, so you will easily be able to imitate the art. Behind the clothes rack you can see pictures that have been hung up - this is where our black magnetic pockets in 10x15 cm.
Cosy corner and beautiful details
We have made a really nice arrangement in one of the container homes. For the pillow, we have used gummy magnets 16x11 in yellowl to hang up with. Only one magnet is used here in each corner - they are quite strong, so you won't need more. For the light blue boxes, we ourselves have been in the process of pop riveting magnets on the back. It's easy to buy potty pliers online - which you will be able to use on many of your things. It's a really smart method, so you ensure that the magnets are stuck - and don't just move. There are undersunk pot magnets in Ø32 here, which sit very well on the back of the boxes.
Here, we have made use of the box lids from IKEA boxes to make small shelves, using rubber magnets in black 16x11 cm. The large box lid is attached here with two rubber magnets, while the smaller boxes are each attached with one rubber magnet. You can e.g. use them for small things such as your keys and wallet. On the right, we have attached a hook magnet Ø32 and used it to hold an extension cord. So you always know where it is.
Hang large posters & frames up
The picture shows how you can easily hang up your own pictures using magnetic tape. In the picture, we have hung two pictures with Plexiglas in the dimensions 50x70 cm. Here we have specifically used magnetic tape with self-adhesive 19 mm. all around the frame, which fit perfectly, when the frame was 20 mm. However, magnetic tape along the two sides is sufficient, which is why it will be enough to buy 2 meters of magnetic tape with self-adhesive.
Smart solutions for small toilets
For the toilet, you can easily hang up all your care and beauty products without difficulty. We have taken our hook magnet Ø32 mm for the large gray basket and for the small gray basket we used < a href="https://www.magnetz.dk/pottemagnet-med-krog-32-mm">hook magnet Ø25 mm. They will easily be able to hold many of your things - where these hook magnets will easily be able to carry a few kilos. Next to the gray baskets, we have hung a towel with our hook magnet Ø20 mm.
Sometimes you need a little extra storage in the toilet, so we also made a shelf for that. Here we used strong string and 4 x hook magnets in Ø20 mm. Here you can advantageously use a wooden board or metal, depending on what suits your decor.
