Magnetic tape
Magnet tape or magnet foil with self-adhesive? Two different products but both with the same name magnetic tape mention in a everyday life.
If it is about to do a piece of paper or carton magnetic on the back, then it would often be enough with magnet tape for the task. Do not confuse with divider tape which is not magnetic! But if you would like to hanging up a frame or setting up a front window with help of magnetism you should use self-adhesive magnet foil, which is more strong than magnet tape.

Magnet tape is...
Magnet tape is the most thinnest version of magnetic material you would find. It is also why it is not as strong as for example magnet foil with self-adhesive. The carrying capacity is approximately around 14 gram for each cm2. It is just as flexible as a normal piece of thick tape and does have around same thickness as duct tape.
Magnet foil is..
Magnet foil with self-adhesive is more strong than magnet tape and it is still flexible and can be bent around things and edges. But it is a thicker than the thin magnet tape. It gives the opportunity for squeezing more magnetism into the foil, and therefore you would get a carrying capacity on minimum 80 gram. for each cm2 with magnet foil.
A lot of opportunities with magnet tape
With magnetic tape you do have a lot of possibilities of use, because it can attach to nearly everything – except wet, dirty or bumpy surfaces, including also fabric. That means you can attach it on same surfaces as normal tape. Here is a list of some objects, which it is possible to attach on self-adhesive magnet tape on:
- Drawings.
- Schedules.
- Little photo frames.
- Curtains (as an example blackout).
- Mosquito net.
- Pictograms.
- Mirrors. And a lot of other.
The list above is not in any way a exhaustive list but it is only for inspiration.
Best of all: It would attach unto itself, so you could for an example put a strip of magnet tape unto your wall and a strip onto your curtain, and then it would act magnetically towards each other.
No rejection
The reason why that it work “against itself”, is because the magnet tape is made of a rubber compound with a lot of magnetic chips. That is to say that the poles point in all directions and therefore it acts monopolar against itself, because the poles is laying tight and can react the opposite pole which they need.
